Standard Exercise Testing

  • Cosmed oxygen uptake analyzers – metabolic cart and portable (Quark b2 and K4b2) 12-lead ECG (Cosmed)
  • Motorized treadmill
  • Lode Excalibur electronically braked cycle ergometer
  • Upper Arm ergometer
  • Biodex

Cardiovascular Assessments

  • Aloka ultrasound system (echocardiography and vascular ultrasound with analysis software)
  • Sphygmocor: Aortic Blood pressure and pulse wave velocity monitoring system
  • Portapres: beat-to-beat photoplethysmography blood pressure measures
  • Hokanson: peripheral blood flow analysis system (plethysmography)
  • Vascular Tools: assists in measuring ultrasound images
  • BioPac: On-line physiologic measurement system – currently designed for ECG, respiration and hand grip testing.
  • WnCPRS: autonomic function analysis (heart rate variability & complexity, blood pressure variability, baroreceptor sensitivity).

In Vivo

  • Implantable blood pressure telemetry for mice, Data Sciences Inc.

Wet Lab

  • Bio-rad mini gel protein electrophoresis units
  • Stratagene Mx300P real time thermocycler
  • Eppendorf gradient thermocycler
  • Biotek Microquant plate spectrophotometer
  • Synergy HT microplate reader (luminescence and fluorescence)
  • Muscle force measurement apparatus including dual mode lever system (Aurora Scientific 350CR) & stimulator (A-M systems)
  • Mini-mitter mouse running wheels are available for use in the animal facility
  • Standard wet lab equipment (centrifuges, freezers, microscopes, etc.).
  • Leica Cryostat
  • Leica dissecting and standard light microscopes with digital camera attachments
