Cristina Morales

Cristina Morales is a senior in kinesiology.

What are your general impressions of your studies and the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health as a whole?

I have been very impressed with the kinesiology department during my time here. I transferred into the College of Applied Health Sciences as a sophomore and was worried about being behind, but the advisors and teachers have been enormously helpful with helping me figure out what I want to do with my time here. I also have been pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoy the content of the classes I have taken in this department, and how passionate the professors have been with what they teach.

What has been your most interesting experience at the University of Illinois?

I have been very lucky to participate in some fantastic things during my years here. But my most exciting and interesting experience would have to have been my semester abroad in Australia. I was able to find classes that fit perfectly with my kinesiology major, and it truly was a once in a lifetime experience.

What are your post-graduation plans?

I hope to go to physician assistant school, hopefully in a big city! If that doesn’t happen right away then I definitely want to do something related to health, possibly abroad, for the next year.

What extracurricular activities/student organizations are you involved with?

I try and stay very involved with my sorority, Alpha Phi, and I work for the University as a teaching assistant for general chemistry. With those two commitments and classes, I tend to stay pretty busy. But I’ve also been involved with other clubs, such as the Pre-Physician Assistant Club, and hopefully Best Buddies again this year!

What do you like to do for fun?

As clichéd as it sounds, I love spending time with friends and family. I am also a big adrenaline junkie and love to do things outdoors. I always have a few books that I am reading at one time.

Why would you recommend KCH and the College of Applied Health Sciences to others?

The classes you take in AHS are so pertinent to future careers. Sometimes I feel like the topics I learn in other science classes will have no relation to my actual health career, but the information I have learned in my kinesiology classes are things that I know I will be able to use once I am out of college.
